PERMANENT ODH FOSTER HOME NEEDED:    Chihuahua neutered male, a bit heavy at 10#.    This little fellow will take just the right people to get through a lot of distrust and defensiveness.   He was left at the shelter by family that couldn’t convince their own vet to euthanize because they couldn’t afford him and he was difficult with family members who rough housed with him.    He’s understandably very stressed at the shelter and wouldn’t allow too much exam (no attempt at a blood draw) though the owner’s vet did an exam and didn’t find much other than arthritis; we can’t be sure about his overall health of course.    Volunteers are walking him quite successfully, but of course he’s still wary as you can see by one of these pictures.   (Scared to death, perhaps?)    He will threaten to bite if pushed but has not been serious about it from what owner and shelter says.-   This may not be an easy transition to a new home, but so often these terrified little dogs will come to trust and be really loving – though maybe never for the vet!     If you would like to try and have a quiet home where he can decompress, please let us know right away.
