“Hey there! Do you need someone to help you carry your mail or small packages? Have you been looking for an ever-present buddy who is not overly affectionate and doesn’t demand constant attention? Well, my name is Oodie, and I may just be the gal you have been hoping to find!

“In February of 2026, I turned 10 years old. If you have not guessed already, I am a Golden Retriever. At this time, I weigh 85 pounds. The extra weight I am carrying makes me move a little slower. With a gentle diet and exercise program, I could perhaps lose some weight. It would be good if my adopter could take me to the vet and have my thyroid checked. Hypothyroidism is quite common in mature dogs.  That could be why I am a little chunky and slow. I hear thyroid medication for a dog is not expensive, and it can mean a whole new world for a dog! The same goes for a joint supplement. While this may sound like a lot to someone, it is basic care that could be a game-changer for me. I have not seen a vet since I was adopted in July of 2025. I am allergic to chicken, so please keep me on a chicken-free diet because it is not fun to be itchy.

“I used to live with an older woman-she was 92 when she rehomed me- so I did not have a lot of experience with other dogs and people. Now I live in a very busy home with lots of people coming and going. There are kids here, and they are terrific! My family had another dog here for a couple of weeks, and I did not like that at all.  I need a home without any other animals. I try to chase cats when I am out and about. I like to chase ANY animal I see when I am out. Goats, alpacas, you name it! I am not afraid of anything, which means I need to be kept safe! Walk me on a leash, but be sure you can handle a dog my size with my strength. I also must have a fenced yard because I will lie in the middle of the street and not move for cars! I know, that sounds kinda silly, but it is what I will do.

“My family has a business that they run behind their home. This has given me a lot of exposure to people, and I have done really well with it. However, I am told I am in the way, getting underfoot. If you are a fall risk, I am not the dog for you. When the family needs to leave the house, I am fine when left alone. I like to get up on the sofa or hang out in the house. When it is nice outside, I enjoy being in the yard. I only bark one soft bark when I am ready to go inside. I can manage quite a few hours during the day before I need a potty break, and I can sleep through the night without needing to relieve myself.

“What I am really hoping for is a home where I can stay forever. I have adapted to this move, but I hope I don’t have to move again.  Sure, I have my quirks, but who doesn’t? I believe I could make someone, or a couple, or a family with kind children, really happy.”
