Ozzy
A friendly, happy boy
“Hi! My name is Ozzy. I am in need of a new home, one where I can stay for the rest of my days. I just turned 12 years old last November. In case you are wondering, I am a mix of a Shih Tzu and a Cairn Terrier. I weigh 14 pounds. My family will tell you I am “sweet, snuggly and loving”.
My family adopted me when I was 3 years old, and during this time, I have never lived with another dog. I do well when I meet other dogs, so it’s possible I could live with another mature, easygoing, friendly dog like myself. When our house sitter brought their cat to the house to stay with me, I was fine with the cat and ignored it after we met. Kids are great as long as they are old enough to be kind and respectful.
When the humans leave, they put me in my own “room” (aka the guest bathroom), and I’m fine to stay alone for a few hours, holding my potty until they return. Of course, my new home may not have a room for me, but I’m sure we can work something out once I am settled in. I bark when delivery trucks arrive-that is to let you know a package has arrived! I also bark out of excitement when I see other dogs on our walk. My tail wags at them like crazy, to let them know I am a friendly, happy boy who wants to meet new friends.
Daily walks are terrific! I enjoy getting out. I have been taken to the local beaches and walks in different cities. I am a good traveler and behave myself on leash. When my people have guests over to the house, I am a good greeter. Everyone loves me! I love to play with my toys and I will pull them out of my toy basket when I’m ready to play. Playing fetch is fun too!
The benefit of a senior dog like me is that I am not hyper. I enjoy downtime, looking out the window, watching the world go by. I am crate trained, but I have only slept in my crate when I’ve stayed at the dog sitter’s house. I sleep in the bed with my people and hope I can continue to do so.
Since my family cannot keep me, they hope to find a truly terrific home to send me to. They are looking for a home where I can continue to receive the care I deserve and need with regular veterinary care, good dog quality food, and grooming when needed to keep me looking cute!
If you are ready for a fun, devoted pal, perhaps I am the one you are looking for? Let’s meet and see if we are a good match!”
