Pete is 13 year old Bichon Frise who has had far too many changes in his life over the last few years. He was adopted from a shelter in 2019 and then found himself in need of another home when his owner passed away. A kind friend of his former owner took him in but was unsure how to help Pete after he exhibited excessive barking and separation anxiety. Luckily, a very patient and caring Old Dog Haven foster family volunteered to add Pete to their family. A vet then examined Pete to test for throat trauma or potential cancer but after several X-rays and an ultrasound, he was given a clean bill of health and will soon undergo a much-needed dental surgery.

After a bit of a rough start, Pete is finally starting to trust his new family and settle into what will be his final home. He currently lives with his foster sister, Mariposa and resident dog Claire. Pete’s foster mom tells us how well he has settled in now that he has the love and attention he needs.

“Pete follows me everywhere, loves car rides in his car seat, loves to go for walks and he will jump in your lap if you are working on the computer. He insists on sleeping in the bed with us on his favorite pillow. With medication and patience, we are working on his separation anxiety. Pete is very loved and we are looking forward to lots of time with him.”

What a lucky dog to finally be a much-loved member of his very own family!
