“My name is Margie. I am 9 years old. I am a chiweenie, about a 15 pound mix of chihuahua and dachshund. I have been through a lot to get to where I am now, and now I need to find another home. My human had a “stroke” that has changed both of our lives. He is very sad, but he knows I should find a new home with someone who can take care of me. I appreciate that he has loved me and helped me when I really needed a home. I will always wish the best for him.

Three years ago I took a long drive to get to Washington. The human I used to live with died, and a few of us needed new homes, so we came north. I landed in my current home as an only dog after living with many dogs. It may be really nice to find a new home where there’s another dog like me in temperament-quiet and calm but welcoming to a newcomer. My person has never had a cat, nor have I seen one while we have been together, so he can’t tell you how I’d react to one. The same goes for kids. If you have older children who are gentle and respectful, it could be nice to have the attention.

I have not been to the vet since I was adopted 3 years ago. I will need a home with someone who can afford to take me to the vet and keep up on my care. Right now, I can take stairs. I don’t get much exercise right now, and I haven’t had much time on leash. It would be very nice to go to a home where I could take daily walks. It is good for all of us to keep moving! Right now I spend a lot of time sleeping. There is not much more for me to do. I lie under my person’s bed, or on top of it.

My person will tell you that I am sweet, kind, and loving. And guess what?? He has never heard me bark! I know that is appealing to some people. I am hoping that I will be appealing to someone who will adopt me, care for me, and give me a new way of life.”
