Pumpkin is a beautiful little dog who was surrendered by her owner to a shelter along with several other dogs. She had not been spayed and had several mammary tumors, which made her chances for adoption pretty slim. Old Dog Haven stepped in and quickly placed Pumpkin in a permanent foster home so she could get the medical care she would need. So far, she has been spayed and had three tumors removed, all of which were found to be benign.  In the process of caring for her immediate needs, it was discovered that Pumpkin has mild arthritis and hip dysplasia, which is unusual in an 8-pound dog!

Pumpkin appears to have been loved and well cared for by her previous owners and arrived clean and well groomed. She knows about dog doors and has not had a single accident in the house.  She walks well on a leash, retrieves her ball, and even knows some commands. She quickly settled into her foster home, attached to her foster mom, but loves her dad and everyone she meets. She particularly enjoys the outdoors and the more time she can spend running and exploring the yard, the better. Walks are another favorite and in spite of weighing only 8 pounds, she insists she is not a small dog. She doesn’t like being picked up, and prefers to be left uncovered at night, even if the room is cool. Although she will snuggle alongside her foster mom on the sofa, she is NOT a lap dog. Much of Pumpkin’s personality likely comes from what appears to be a significant contribution of Papillon in her breed mix.

Thanks to Old Dog Haven, this lovely little dog has a home where her medical needs are being taken care of and will be for the rest of her life. She is a lucky dog who is much loved by her foster family, who feel very lucky to have her.
