Dobby
Loving his new life, comfy beds and the great outdoors!
Please note: The dogs in ODH's Final Refuge care are not adoptable due to medical reasons and all are in permanent homes. Your sponsorship supports the veterinary expenses for these dogs - and we thank you!
Dobby is a 12 – 13 yo Chihuahua mix who came to our home from wonderful ODH Temporary fosters. They got his initial vet exam done and started him on his shots. We are so grateful that they could take him right away so he could begin getting the care he needs as soon as possible. Dobby is VERY overweight at just under 15 pounds, and as a result isn’t as mobile as he could be. He also has a heart murmur and will require an echo cardiogram, possibly a dental and UTI as well. He also has developing cataracts but still sees ok.
He was in a home where he had not been able to get much attention and spent the majority of the days alone in an apartment. We were told that he wasn’t a ‘velcro’ dog but liked to be petted.
Well, when our great ODH transporters delivered him to his new permanent home (a 2 hour drive each way), he was not what I expected. Within one day, this little fellow had joined my pack of 2 16 year old Permanent ODH Foster Dogs and you could not tell that he was new!
This very sweet little fellow actually IS a ‘velcro’ dog and now follows me wherever I go and loves sleeping on the bed (under the covers) and hanging out with his pack mates. He loves to go for walks, so that will help get him back to a healthy weight which will no doubt give him even more energy! Currently he loves to zoom down the hallway on his way to the kitchen – thinking meal time might occur at any moment.
I am so grateful that ODH entrusted this precious boy to me….he has brightened each day with his eagerness to explore and sniff and get attention. Hi tail is always wagging and I’ve never had a pup who made it so very clear that he was very happy to be HOME. And a real bonus – he can hear! My other two current pups are both almost totally dear so having a pup that comes when I call him is a real treat!
My sincere thanks to all our wonderful supporters who make it possible for ODH to care for so many wonderful old dogs that need a loving home for the rest of their lives.
