Rikki

Lil’ Rikki is a 9 year old dachshund/chihuahua mix AKA a “chiweenie”. He is adorable, isn’t he? Great things come in this 5 pound package! Rikki is good with all sizes of dogs; he would be happiest living in a home with dogs as friendly as he is. Currently Rikki lives with 3 cats and he has done just fine with them. He has also done well with kids over age 10. Rikki grew up in a home with 2 other dogs and his person was home most of the time. When that person passed away, Rikki and his canine companions were taken to a shelter. Rikki was adopted fairly quickly but to a home where the people leave for work and are gone long hours. He is crated for up to 9 hours a day and this is just too hard on him. He is described as “a gentle, kind, smart loving dog who is very sociable with humans and animals”. No doubt Rikki would love to find a home with someone who will let him share the bed with them at night. And who could deny him that?! He loves to snuggle. Rikki is learning to walk on leash, he LOVES to go for walks, up to a mile and a half. Rikki would appreciate being your ride along in the car buddy too. At only 9 years old, Rikki could be around for a long time; he needs a home with someone who he won’t outlive (again). This little guy sounds like such a great dog; someone will be very fortunate to give him his forever home.
