“My name is Sadie and I was born to a barn dog almost 13 years ago. My family adopted me as a puppy and brought me home.

“I’ve had a great life up until a few years ago when my people starting having babies. Once the first child started crawling I got nervous and so I’ve had to be separated from my family. I’ve never bitten the children, just growled. That’s my way of letting them know I don’t like being bumped or taken by surprise! It’s not the child’s fault and it’s not mine either. I am just not the type of dog who wants to live with small kids so it’s time for me to move on.

“More about me: I weigh 45 pounds, I think a good size as I’m not a big dog but I’m not a small dog either. They say my parents were Lab and Shiba Inu. I’m a little shy at first when I meet new dogs. I much prefer dogs that are laid back; I don’t appreciate them all up in my business, if you know what I mean!  I lived with a cat years ago and we were friends. A new home with older children that will respect my space and be gentle and kind may be just fine for me.

“I am very good about staying home. I can hold it for quite a while before I need a potty break but please keep in mind, I’m getting older and like humans as they age, I may need to get out more eventually. I can do stairs at this time and have used a kennel when necessary but I’d rather have free roam in the house.

“I LOVE to go for walks! I’m hoping my new people will be able to get me out every day for a walk and new adventures. I will behave well on leash if I’m taken out regularly. I like to play fetch too! When visitors come over I get so excited, I bring them my toys! I know some basic commands like “sit pretty” and “shake”.

“I am content to lounge around and then be ready to join you for outings. I will alert you to let you know when someone’s at the door or when someone walks by the fence but I am very good about not too much barking.  I think I have a lot to offer a new family and I’m hoping to find one soon.”
