Please note: The dogs in ODH's Final Refuge care are not adoptable due to medical reasons and all are in permanent homes. Your sponsorship supports the veterinary expenses for these dogs - and we thank you!

Archie and Sanford are now settling into their Final Refuge home and their lives are finally looking up! They have had a very sad past. Used by a backyard breeder to make tiny shih tzus, the boys were never neutered or had any additional vet care and it appears that they have very few teeth. Their Old Dog Haven intake exams have already been scheduled with a veterinarian to help transform them into healthy and happy dogs.

Their forever foster dad told us this: “Both are very quiet – just wide-eyed and sweet and love to be petted. The little beige one, Archie, was curious about the house and wandered around a bit but then settled down with his buddy, Sanford and Archie have been in their bed ever since chilling.” We are so glad these fosters offered to give the pair a home so they can remain together for the rest of their lives.

Friends, your support enables Old Dog Haven to give the senior dogs we bring into our rescue the care they need. Almost every dog we take in has suffered from long-time neglect. This is why we do this, to give those dogs who need the most help, a home with a care, safety and security.

Update: Sadly, Sanford’s health failed him and his loving family had to make the difficult decision to let him go.  He had been the more fragile one from the beginning and after enjoying lots of lap time, cuddles and love with his family it was time.  Archie is doing well, after his brother’s passing.  He is an energetic little guy and runs from room to room and loves his Foster Mom.  We think he knew that Sanford was not feeling well and seems to have attached even more to his Foster Mom now that Sanford is gone.
