Quiet Little Sir Buffington

Sixteen year old Sir Buffington needed a home after he lost his home once his elderly owner had a bad fall and could no longer care for him. The shelter was no place for a dog his age with a bad heart. We were so happy to be able to spare him a shelter intake and take him directly from his caregiver.

From his Foster family:

“Old Dog Haven Final Refuge foster Sir Buffington has been with us for almost a month  and he is finally starting to come out of his shell. Up until just recently he has been withdrawn and lethargic.  He could barely walk outside to do his business without stopping and he would be panting heavily.  Two weeks later he ran down the hall and turned circles and he trots along behind us when we walk up to the garbage cans, he will follow us anywhere.  Sir Buff is enjoying wandering around our 2 ½ acres (fully fenced of course and the dogs are never alone) learning what it is to live on a piece of property with so many new smells.

“We are so crazy about this little adorable old man. He has also been so good for his foster brother Noodle who was pretty crabby when he arrived at our house.  Old Dog Haven Final Refuge foster Noodle is a different dog since Buff arrived and other than when they are sleeping they are always together.  Our other foster is Harvey, he is blind, nearly deaf and is in early stages of dementia so he doesn’t really interact with the other dogs anymore but follows the other dogs and gets along with them well.

“Sir Buff has had his intake veterinarian exam and he has seen a canine cardiologist, has had a change of medication and we are hoping that even though he is already 16, we will have quite some time to spoil, love and enjoy this quiet little angel. The only sound he has made is to whine when he is happy to see us, we are wondering what his bark sounds like.

“We are so thankful to all those of you who sponsor Old Dog Haven dogs in foster care, it is because of you that they receive the amazing medical care, proper food and love, lots and lots of love to ensure that the last chapter of their lives is the best it can be. We are very grateful!”
