Stella
A very, very good girl
“Hi there. My name is Stella. I am a very good girl looking for a new home. I turn 9 years old this July 2025. My human did a breed test on me and found out that I am an interesting mix of many different breeds. The most predominant breeds I am are Blue Heeler and Golden Retriever.
“At this time I’m a plus-size gal, weighing about 90 pounds. To shed some of this weight I need a more active home. In the past, I have been an active girl but my person is unable to get me out for regular exercise now. While on leash, I do pretty well. I’ve had no formal training but the harness my person uses helps make it so I don’t pull. I can manage some stairs at this time. I’ll be honest-in my current shape, they are harder to do! Even after I trim down, a home without too many stairs is preferable.
“I am accustomed to being an only dog; however, that doesn’t mean I can’t live with other dogs. Mature dogs like me, who are not too pushy or barky, could be fine to spend time with. I just need time to warm up to other dogs, and I don’t think that’s too much to ask. I can’t tell you how I’d react to a cat as I’ve never lived with one and my person doesn’t recall ever observing me when I’ve seen one. I have lived around children and spent time with family members’ kids. I have always been a nice girl, but the younger kids who want to touch me and fuss with me aren’t my favorite. I will walk away from them and hope the grown-ups tell them to leave me alone. Not all dogs are as tolerant, it’s important to teach children to respect us!
“Barking is not something I do a lot of. My person says that’s a good thing. I will let you know if someone is at the door or if there’s a suspicious sound outside. Mostly, I’m pretty “chill” and once I move into my new home after some time to settle in, I’d like to continue being that girl. I have lived with the same people since I was a wee one so I may be sad with my move but it is something that has to happen. My person is hoping to help me find the very best adoptive forever home.
“I am described as “a big lovey couch potato”. I love being rubbed and petted. Playing in the water is great fun! Summer is coming, and I love to chase the sprinkler. I play fetch with balls and chew on my squeaky toys. I make my humans laugh and smile all of the time. Are you looking for someone in your life who will make you laugh and smile more? I may just be the one you need!”
