FOUND – PERMANENT ODH HOME:   Shih tzu (we believe) female, not yet spayed, 11#.    This sweetheart is mostly being crated since her person passed and family member took her in.   She’s alone all workday with some breaks but mostly she’s in a crate.   She is reportedly urinating all the time, in the crate and on the floor even after she’s been outside (but does not have poop accidents).  We sent her to our vet who found no reason for that at all, though there’s a slight possibility of Cushings which we would of course follow up right away.    While it may be just a dog who wasn’t used to being left alone or kept inside that long, it may be that grandma didn’t take her out enough and she will need to relearn housetraining. Certainly NOT being crated to prevent problems – she will need supervision and reward for appropriate behavior.   She’s lived with dogs and does well with them,  she’s quiet, very cuddly and a couch potato.   Our vet said she is very sweet.   If you’ve had a shih tzu, you know what kind of agreeable, relaxed personalities they usually have!     Medically, she has a mild heart murmur and the common shih tzu issues with hairs growing into her eyes (and perhaps Cushings). If you have room for a sweetheart, with time and patience to make sure she understands house rules/schedule – please let us know right away!
