Violet
Sweet and gentle
Please note: The dogs in ODH's Final Refuge care are not adoptable due to medical reasons and all are in permanent homes. Your sponsorship supports the veterinary expenses for these dogs - and we thank you!
Violet came to her Old Dog Haven permanent foster home just a few short weeks ago after she was found as a stray and turned into the shelter. This poor girl had clearly been neglected and was emaciated, missing much of her hair, and had a horrible skin condition. We are so grateful to the wonderful shelter foster who gave her the safe and quiet place she needed to start her road to recovery.
Thanks to our wonderful transport team, Violet was brought to her Old Dog Haven family, where she joined the resident dog, Gracie, who has proven to be a major source of comfort to her as she settles into her new home.
Violet’s new mom told us that she seemed very lost and confused when she arrived, but is now feeling better and getting used to all the care and attention she is receiving. She has a sweet and gentle personality and amuses her mom by carrying a ball or a stuffed toy in her mouth during her daily walks.
Violet is improving every day, but still has some medical and emotional challenges ahead. She had her vet intake exam recently and is being monitored for a few health concerns, including skin issues, a cracked tooth, and several small tumors. She had some intestinal parasites and anemia that have since resolved with treatment. With all that Violet has been through in her life, it is no surprise that she also experiences significant separation anxiety that we hope will resolve once she feels more confident and secure. When Violet feels stressed, her new sister, Gracie, stays very close to reassure her that all is well.
We are so fortunate to have so many kind and compassionate people who step up to help senior dogs when they need it the most. Your donations fund the life-long medical care old dogs like Violet need to thrive in the final chapter of their lives!
