Addison is a magnificent bloodhound! This 12 year old, 85 pound girl is in need of a home without young kids who will startle her. Addison was a trained Search and Rescue dog. She has been retired from that now but has kept her good manners.

Addison is said to be very good with other dogs. She has not lived with cats. Her people believe she could be OK with kids aged 10 and over. As we hear so often with senior dogs, Addison is not fond of the crawling baby in her home. Often when dogs age, their reflexes diminish and so reaction time slows. They can become defensive and with hearing and vision changes, they can’t hear when a child is coming, can be startled easily or can’t move fast enough to get out of the way. Please do keep this in mind when you mix a senior dog with young children who don’t know any better than to give a dog it’s space.

Addison has been fine to stay alone inside her home while her humans are away. She can manage quite awhile before she requires a potty break but at her age, she shouldn’t be expected to do so too often. Addison can still manage stairs at this time. This is a large dog so keep her size in mind for getting in/out of the car or if she develops mobility issues as she ages, she won’t be a dog easily carried. We are told she only bays when she greets people otherwise she is a quiet girl. Such a good girl!

This smart, very well trained girl enjoys her walks and is great on leash. She loves sunbathing and being with her people. We can imagine she’d love a securely fenced yard to sniff around in. Seeing Addison’s picture, just made us smile a hum the tune to “Beverly Hillbillies”! Certainly there’s someone else out there who will love and appreciate Addison and give her the perfect home she’s so deserving of.

Addison is located in Issaquah, WA. For contact information please email: referrals@olddoghaven.org

This is not an ODH dog; we urge prospective adopters to do their own evaluation.
