Angel is a gorgeous 9-year-old girl in need of an adoptive home. She is a 16 pound pomeranian/husky mix. Angel had been with the same owner since she was a puppy. Unfortunately, not long ago, her owner developed dementia. Angel is currently living with a family member until an adopter can be found for her.

At this time, Angel lives with a couple of cats. She has no issues with them; she leaves them alone even when they try to rub on her. It has been 2 years since Angel last lived with another dog. When she meets other dogs now, she gets very anxious and barks a lot at them. The family has not pushed her interaction with new dogs. Because she loves being the center of attention, her caregivers feel she would be happiest being an only dog in her new home. Smart and thoughtful integration into a home with perhaps one, senior, mellow dog is possible. But that dog would have to be willing to share their person with Angel and hopefully she could learn to accept that and perhaps even enjoy a canine companion.

There are older, kind children in the home Angel lives in now and she does great with them. Angel has attached herself to the female adult in the home, though and her preference is time with her. Angel is a loving girl who enjoys cuddling next to her person. She’d love to find a human who will allow her to sleep on the bed with them at night.

Angel spends the workday alone in the home with the cats for company. She gets “sad” when everyone leaves, but her “welcome home” when everyone returns is full of excitement. Angel does bark as she feels the need to protect her home from any perceived danger. Her family states Angel will stop barking when told as she wants to please her people. The husky in Angel brings out the “talker” in her, she is a vocal gal so one should be OK with this and not have neighbors who will not be.

Going for walks is something Angel truly enjoys. Her caregiver has been working with her to have better leash manners. Taking daily walks with a dog is a great way to bond. We are told Angel is smart and appreciates treats, this will help with further training! Angel enjoys running around her fenced yard and once she is comfortable, she will show you her playful, goofy side.

Angels shows no sign of having arthritis at this time. She can manage stairs. Angel’s last vet exam was in November of 2025. Her adopter should be willing and able to provide her with lifelong veterinary care, good quality dog food, and grooming when necessary.

After the loss of her only home and lifelong human, Angel had some anxiety. Who could blame her? Thankfully, caring, extended family stepped up to care for her until they could find a home that suited her better than theirs. Angel will thrive in a home where she can receive more attention, one where someone is home more often as this is the kind of home she was raised in.  Angel is ready for her last move, one where she will remain for the rest of her days. She was a wonderful, devoted friend and companion to her first owner and now she needs to find another person she can share that love and devotion to again.
