Angela
Loving, brave and perky little poodle
Angela, a lovely white poodle girl, was surrendered at 14 years of age. Thankfully Old Dog Haven was contacted because Angela had several serious medical issues and needed lots of medical help and a loving, committed forever home. A long time Final Refuge family with a real soft spot for little poodles welcomed little Angela with open arms.
Angela has already had a few tests and a complete intake exam. She has significant heart disease (with an echo scheduled soon), has arthritis in both hind legs and her spine, and has Cushing’s Disease which had been untreated for over a year. Thanks to ODH, she will get the care she needs to have the quality of life and all the love she deserves.
Her personality is delightful – after less than a week she has decided that the bed is for sleeping and the sofa makes a great place for a nap. She is a very calm little pup and the very best girl when being groomed and bathed. She is very quiet…except when there is something she really needs…like food, up on the bed, more food, even more food – and then she has a surprisingly forceful bark. Her new family is very grateful for the chance to have her in their lives and hopes to have lots of time with this special girl.
Update: We had almost three years with this dear girl. She was everything a little white poodle should be – opinionated, spunky, and always ready for treats. She received the best treatment for her heart disease and Cushings, but both diseases progressed and it was time to let my sweet Angela rest and move on. The past two days she clearly let me know it was time, so off to our wonderful vet we went and she was very relaxed and at ease for this last trip. I held her as she left and she was so ready – now she won’t have to struggle with all her challenges and she said she’s going to hang out with her dad who had to leave her in 2023. I am so thankful I got to care for her. I promised her I would still feed the other pups (she was sure that the only reason they got fed was that she barked insistently while I prepared the food). Missing her already and so grateful she could stay as long as she did.
