Bailey and Sookie are darling Cairn Terriers, looking to find an adoptive home in which they can remain together. Sookie is a blonde 10-year-old girl who weighs 20 pounds. Bailey is an 18-pound, unique black brindle male who is 9 years old. Together, they will make a terrific addition to their new home.

This pair recently lost their longtime home due to their senior owners’ inability to care for them. Family took them in, but it is only a temporary home. Sookie and Bailey need a forever home where their people are around more often. This is the lifestyle they were accustomed to, and while they are not needy as they have each other, the belief is that they would be happier in a home with people around more often.

Bailey and Sookie can live with other dogs, so if you have a home with another welcoming, friendly dog, these friends could join them. Neither dog appreciates cats, so they need a no-cat home. Sookie and Bailey have not been observed around children. It could be that they would do fine in a home with older kids, aged 10 and over.

At this time, the dogs are using a dog door to go out to do their business. They are well house-trained, but with a move, they will need to adapt to where and how they get outside to potty. Bailey and Sookie have lived in a home with a large fenced yard to roam. While they appreciate the freedom to come and go as they please outside, they have not had much experience with daily walks and walking on a leash. Our suggestion would be to use harnesses for them, as Bailey tries to pull out of his collar when a leash is attached. We are told both dogs will pull while on leash. So if you’re looking for walking buddies, it could take some time and training to get them to learn leash walking. However, this does not mean they should have a sedentary life! Dogs need to be exercised. Bailey and Sookie exercise for about 60 minutes a day.

With the adoption of Sookie and Bailey, one must be able to afford and commit to the lifelong veterinary care, good quality dog food, and grooming for a pair of dogs. They are young seniors so the hope is that with regular care, their companionship and love could be enjoyed for years to come. Neither shows signs of arthritis, and they can still manage stairs at this point in their lives.

If you have neighbors who will be bothered by dogs who bark, Bailey and Sookie are not a good match for you. The pair barks; it does not sound like an abnormal amount, but they are terriers! When they are not enjoying time outside, the pair can be found on the couch or on their dog beds. The dogs love each other as well as people. Both Sookie and Bailey are said to be “snugglers”. Who would not want to snuggle with these adorable friends?
