Siggy
Cuddle-buddy
“Hello! My name is Siggy. I am a Chihuahua/Terrier mix who weighs 9 pounds. The vet guesses that I am about 10 years old. Check out my ears! Everyone tells me how cute I am and what great ears I have. I am a very lucky boy to be where I am now. My past life was filled with neglect and uncertainty. Now I have been cared for in a home, including a dental procedure that my rescuer did for me. I am ready for an adoptive home, one I will never lose.
While I have not had another dog to live with in my caregiver’s home and my past is a mystery, I like meeting new dogs when I am out on a walk. I may enjoy a home with a friendly (but not puppy-friendly) dog my size, who can help me learn the ropes in my new home. I can be a bit anxious at first and a dog with calm energy could help me. I don’t like cats; the terrier in me wants to get them. I can be around children, but please do not allow young kids to be rough with me or try to pick me up. Because I am a sensitive boy, I’d rather not have to worry about what a child may do to me.
Predictability in my new home will suit me best. You think that’s boring? Well, not me! I love a routine and schedule that I can count on. If you work from home or are home more often than not, I will be very happy. At first, I was anxious when left alone. Now that I have settled in and learned my caregiver is coming back, I am OK. I have to learn this again in my move. I have taken trazodone that the vet prescribed me, and it helps a lot. There is no shame in getting help when you need it!
I can manage a few hours between potty breaks, and I can still manage stairs without a problem. I am a young senior who hopes to be around for many more years. So please keep in mind that you should be able to afford my lifelong care. As I mentioned before, I have had a MUCH NEEDED dental. I now have no teeth! My mouth feels so much better now. I do have a habit of licking, which causes staining. Some dogs lick out of nerves, some do because of allergies. Another thing to share about me is my penis won’t always retract into its sheath. This is a thing, and as some dogs age, it can happen! It may sound strange, but it is easy to care for. Just keep me groomed “down there” and use KY Jelly when I am exposed. That helps it all work like it is supposed to.
My happiest times are when I am cuddling with my human. I enjoy being on a lap, hanging out on the couch, or on the bed with my person. If you want to carry me around, I am game for that! During the day, I hang out on the couch and look at the window. I am not a barky dog. When I first made it to my current home, I barked at night. Trazodone at night helps me sleep without barking.
Daily walks are part of my routine. I get to go for 2-3 short walks a day and would appreciate continuing that. I walk well on a harness, sometimes trying to pull out of excitement. There is just so much to smell and see! I look forward to exploring new places with my new person.
If I sound like the new friend you have been hoping for, I am in need of a home soon. I am excited to finally be someone’s forever dog!”
