Oh who couldn’t love this face?! Meet Banshee, an almost 9 year old lab mix. Banshee weighs about 75 pounds. He is a sensitive fellow who was rescued from a rough puppyhood. With great regret,  Banshee’s loving family now has to give him up. He is  in need of an adopter who will love him and keep him forever. And who wouldn’t want to??

Banshee reportedly loves other dogs and he does really well with cats too. He has lived with children and appreciates kids who are gentle and kind to him. Banshee loves everyone once he gets to know you. Just look out for his “happy tail”- that wonderful lab trait!

Banshee has some food allergies. He is hypothyroid (common and easily treated with inexpensive daily medication) and he has some arthritis. Banshee’s people will fill you in on what they are using to keep him comfortable. Banshee’s adopter should be able to continue his daily medications, supplements and regular veterinary check ups.

While away from home, his people put piano music on for him. Of course as a sensitive dog, Banshee should be given time to settle into his new home and learn that you WILL be returning. Banshee’s person tells us he takes anxiety medication because he is food obsessed (not to be mistaken for food aggression!). It seems Banshee knows when it’s almost time to eat! That seems like a common occurrence in many dogs, as if they know how to tell time? His anxiety medication also helps him with his fear of loud noises. He currently lives in a high traffic area and that has made him more anxious.  Perhaps in time, he could be helped to overcome his fears and be weaned of the anxiety medication?

Banshee does bark, especially when meeting new people or when loud trucks pass by. Banshee does not do well with wood stairs or uncarpeted areas in general because he slips.

Banshee LOVES walks! We are told that he does well on leash until he sees another dog, then he becomes excited. This means his adopter should be able to manage the strength of a dog his size and hopefully work with him on his leash manners.

This loyal, loving, sweet boy is in need of an adoptive home and he needs to find one very soon. Banshee is located in Olympia, WA. For contact information please email: referrals@olddoghaven.org

This is not an ODH dog; we urge prospective adopters to do their own evaluation.
