Boy is a 35-pound, handsome heeler fellow who is estimated to be between 8 and 9 years old. He was discovered roaming, intact, and averse to being caught. Boy needed help!

Thanks to kind folks and the perseverance of his rescuer, Boy was caught, neutered and brought into a short-term foster home. Once in a warm and caring home, Boy thrived. He enjoyed being with a family that included gentle children aged 6 and over, and dogs who didn’t push him to play with them. Boy seems to prefer men, but he does enjoy women too. Boy will focus on his human, which means his adopter will be making a devoted friend. He will chase cats, so Boy needs a home where they are not present.

Boy enjoys car rides. Because of his history of roaming and escaping when attempts were made to contain him, his rescuer is insisting that his new home have a securely fenced yard, a GPS collar, and commit to leashing him on walks so that he does not stray ever again. Boy enjoys his walks and play time. He is a young senior who should be exercised.

At this time, Boy is spending his days as a greeter at the office, hanging out in the lobby of a business happily greeting people. He is happiest when humans are around but that’s not to say he cannot stay alone in his new home. However, it will be very important that Boy be given time to acclimate to his new home. His rescuer suggests lick mats or brain games (for dogs) as a way for him to spend his time alone. Perhaps the company of another mature, mellow dog would help Boy settle in and learn the ways of his new home. The goal is to find an adopter where someone is around more often than not-he is that kind of dog! If given the opportunity, Boy may enjoy sharing the bed with his new humans at night. Boy can manage quite a few hours between potty breaks at this time.

We are told that Boy is a little stiff in his hind end. For this Boy is taking a joint supplement that should be continued for his comfort. Boy can manage stairs at this time. His adopter should be able and willing to provide lifelong veterinary care and good-quality dog food.

Boy’s rescuer describes him as being “an adventure buddy who is a calm, affectionate companion”. He sure sounds like a terrific dog!
