Please note: The dogs in ODH's Final Refuge care are not adoptable due to medical reasons and all are in permanent homes. Your sponsorship supports the veterinary expenses for these dogs - and we thank you!
From her Final Refuge Family:
Coco came to us after being abandoned. She was a 12 year old emaciated cutie who had a full body skin infection due to a flea allergy, a severe ear infection, was apparently deaf and lacking in social skills. She was missing about 60% of her hair.
With ODH’s support for much needed vet care, she has now regrown most of her hair; she hears some and has improved social skills. The skin issue appeared to be in check at first and then there was a flare up; and the vet says that these may happen ongoing.
Her social skills have greatly improved along with her personality and she is more accepting of other dogs in our pack. She is on medications to help with the itching and skin issues. There are currently some eye issues which we are treating and she gets daily supplements.
Thanks to ODH oversight and access to vet services Coco is having a more “normal” dog life. She quickly captures the hearts of new acquaintances and has melded into the doggie social circle to which we belong. Her smile, with the right-side curled lip, melts hearts. She is a peaceful dog who follows the lead of our other dog, her big brother if you will, and now barks when appropriate and is a snuggle bunny.
We are grateful for this opportunity to be part of her life and to provide a forever home during her golden years. I don’t see how this turn around would have happened without ODH intervention. Thank you ODH for this opportunity, for the opportunity to be of service to Coco and the blessings she brings to our lives.
