Please note: The dogs in ODH's Final Refuge care are not adoptable due to medical reasons and all are in permanent homes. Your sponsorship supports the veterinary expenses for these dogs - and we thank you!

Danelaine is an overweight 16 year-old long-haired dachshund that found herself in a shelter when her person died. She was never spayed, so she has two+ mammary masses that will need to be removed. Her heart is enlarged, her vision and hearing are limited, and her teeth are terrible. Needless to say, Dani will be spayed as soon as possible. There are many visits to the vet in this girl’s future, thanks to Old Dog Haven.

If you consider the list of medical issues Dani is dealing with, you’d expect her to be a very unhappy dog. Not so. Even when she was at the shelter she was a big favorite with staff and volunteers, and now she has two dog moms who are charmed by her every day.

Dani’s resilience and positive attitude are quite remarkable. She’s a gentle soul that definitely likes people more than other dogs, but she’s respectful and quiet with the other dogs in her new family. She eats well, looks forward to the treat routine, sleeps all night and is happy she now has a forever family who love her and are cheering her on as she heals.

We feel very fortunate Dani has joined our family and hope she’ll be able to stay with us for a long time, but each day is a gift which we receive thankfully and we’ll enjoy every moment she’s with us.
