MARANDA FUND RECIPIENT

Darling was surrendered to a shelter by her family requesting euthanasia. They told the staff she was 16 years old. Darling was underweight, her hair stained and thin, and her backside was hairless. She had horrid teeth and she smelled pretty bad. In spite of her poor physical condition, shelter staff saw what a sweetheart Darling was and asked Old Dog Haven if we could find a Final Refuge home for her.

While her original name had not been Darling, upon the first look at her photo, her ODH mom said “Oh, she’s DARLING!” and the name stuck. It certainly fits her especially after months of bathing and proper care. Now her hair is thick and beautiful and she has gained weight. As with many of our ODH seniors, Darling also needed an extensive dental procedure and the The Maranda Fund was used so she could have it done by a dental specialist.

Darling is as sweet as she is lovely. She’s an easy-going girl who appreciates short walks and cuddling up with the other ODH dogs in her Final Refuge home. Anyone who meets Darling cannot understand why someone could give her up! Her forever family is grateful that because of Old Dog Haven, Darling has a home with them always.

Update:  This very special girl finally had to leave her wonderful home when her health failed.  She had blessed her Final Refuge family since 2016 and will be greatly missed.
