Duke, a lab mix about 13 years old then, came to us when his owner refused to care for him any longer and wanted him euthanized. Her daughter wanted him to “have the rest of his life” and he came to ODH. He was quite arthritic at that time and over his 10 months in his ODH home that gradually worsened. His mild-mannered personality won over his ODH family but increasing medications failed to keep his spine and joints comfortable. When efforts failed and he couldn’t get around on his own it was time to say goodbye. We’re glad he spent his last months with people who loved and wanted him – he will be missed.
