Beautiful Kona is described as “big-hearted, loyal, affectionate to every person she’s ever met”.

Kona is a 49-pound mixed-breed girl who is about 8 years old. Kona sounds like a fantastic girl who will be a great addition to just about any kind of home.

Kona has lived with other dogs and knows how to “read the room”. If a dog is too much for her or she feels could be aggressive to her, she will keep to herself. She does not need a dog who wants to interact with her, but she can co-exist with a dog who will match her calm personality. Kona is so nice to cats; she will bring them her toys to play with! Kona has been good with children of all ages, but her preference is kids who are old enough to be gentle and respectful of her.

During the day, Kona will stay in a crate when her humans leave the house. While she is accustomed to this, we never recommend a crate for long hours, especially as a senior dog advances in age, who may need to relieve themself more often than a younger dog does. Kona is said to be quiet, not barking unless she hears a car door shut or when people arrive at her house- the usual reasons a dog will bark.

Kona is not a dog who requires a lot of exercise, but she does appreciate getting out with her people. We are told she is good on leash. Her people report she is slowing down some, but she can manage stairs at this time. Currently, Kona takes joint support, which is helpful for her occasional arthritis. She would benefit from a senior check-up to get the best picture of her overall health. Kona’s adopter should be ready and able to provide her with lifelong veterinary care and good-quality dog food.

At night, Kona appreciates sleeping in her human’s bedroom in her dog bed. This really nice dog demonstrates all the good things about a senior dog. She is well-behaved, mellow, and not demanding of constant attention. No doubt, when you are ready to spend time with her, she will make you so happy you made her “yours”!
