“Howdy! My name is Odie and I’m looking for a new home. I am a 9 year old chocolate labrador retriever who currently weighs 90 pounds. Yes, I’m overweight! I haven’t been out for the regular walks I used to get. I’m hoping in my new home there will be more time for that and for me!

“I have lived with both dogs and cats and have been great with all unless the dog is mean. I am a very nice boy so I’d love to join a family with other animals that would like to be pals with me. There are young kiddos in my home now. They are fairly new additions that take a lot of my humans’ time. I am fine with the kids but in truth I’m not around these kids much. I spend most of my day outside or in the garage. I’d LOVE a home where I get to be around people. A family with kind children who would like to have a dog would be so nice!

“It’d be great to have a home with a fenced yard that I can go out into to run around in and play. While in name I am a “retriever”, I don’t retrieve. Daily walks with my Wonder Walker harness to keep me from pulling are what I long for. Most of all I want to spend time with my humans. We can go for walks, work or relax in the yard and then go inside and just “be”- THAT would be AWESOME!

“My humans will tell you that I am a friendly, happy boy with a typical lab personality!  I sleep in my kennel at night. I am well potty trained, managing quite a few hours between breaks. Since I stay outside or in the garage, one would want me to become accustomed to being in the house when you are away. I can manage stairs without a problem right now. While I’m not up to date on shots, my people are working to get that done before I move to my new home. Common in my breed, I have had ear infections. Please adopt me only if you can afford to take me to a vet and provide good quality dog food for me. I don’t want to suffer as I age because my person can’t afford my vet care.

“I get super excited when humans show me attention. In that excitement because of my size, I could unintentionally knock someone over. This means if you are more fragile, and easily pushed over, I am probably not the dog you should have. I mean no harm! I will calm down once I get the attention I am hoping for. I will bark when I see other dogs but if you tell me to “leave it”, I will stop. Aside from those times, I don’t bark much at all.

“Now that I’ve told you all about me, I hope there’s someone out there who would like to welcome me into their family. I have a lot of love, fun and loyalty to offer!”
