Olive – Adoption Pending

“Hi! My name is Olive. I am 10 years old, and I weigh about 12 pounds. My person is not positive about my weight, as I have not seen a vet in a couple of years.

My family moved to W. Washington after we had a family member pass away. Usually, I am a smiley girl, but you can see I am a bit concerned right now. Things have been pretty stressful, but my remaining family member has tried hard to keep things together. She is sad to part with me, but she knows I need a chance at a home with someone who can afford my care. I do not feel or act sick, but I should have an exam so that I can get my shots.

I have lived my life with my brother and our parents, who were bred to have me. I have never lived with dogs that were not part of my family. I cannot say for sure how I would do with new dogs, but I am a friendly girl. If you have another dog my size, who is not a puppy or youngster that would not want to roughhouse, I could be OK with that. Since I’ve never lived without the company of other dogs and cats, I’d probably miss animal companionship. I do well with cats but I have never been around children. Older kids, aged 12 and over, could be nice to be around if they are gentle and like to give belly rubs. I enjoy belly rubs!

At night, I like sleeping in the bed with my people. I am fine to stay alone when the humans leave the house, but of course, I have never had to be completely alone. It would be totally strange and new for me to have to be completely alone without a dog or cat to keep me company. That is not to say you can never leave or you have to take me with you everywhere, I just need to be taught that it is OK to be alone. This could take time so I will need someone patient and understanding. I can manage quite a few hours before I need a potty break.

Going for walks is fun, and I make it fun for my walker too, as I am great on leash. I can climb stairs when I need to. I take a fish oil supplement every day that helps keep my coat shiny and healthy. Can you imagine how pretty I would be with a groom?

Because I am only 10 years old, you could call me a “young senior”. With regular vet care and dog food that is good quality for the rest of my days, I could be around for a long time. Let’s grow old together!”
