Roxy

Roxy is a lovely Jack Russell Terrier who weighs 11 pounds. She is almost 12 years old.

Roxy who was adopted early this year from a local shelter after her family lost their home in the floods. We are told at first she was pretty down (understandably), and it took her about a month to come out of her shell. Unfortunately, now she finds herself in need again, as it has been discovered that she becomes stressed during trips in the car. Roxy is ready to join a new family, one that she will never lose!

Roxy lives with another senior dog and a senior cat. She has done terrific with both! Roxy has not been observed around children. The belief is that she may be fine with kids as long as they are old enough to know to be gentle and respectful of animals. It sounds as though Roxy would fit into just about any type of home, as long as she is not expected to go out on car rides.

This smart girl is dog door trained, she can manage quite a bit between potty breaks, and she has been good with her housetraining. However, like many small dogs, she is not a fan of going outside when the weather is wet and cold. We get that, Roxy! This means one would need to be sure she gets out regularly. Her favorite thing to do is enjoy time in the yard on a sunny day.

When her person leaves the home, she can cry some but she will settle down after a bit. No doubt her canine and feline companions are good for her so that she does not feel totally alone. Her current person is an active retiree, which means Roxy is not left for long hours during the work week. Roxy enjoys her daily walks and she does very well on leash. Daily walks should be a part of Roxy’s schedule. At this time, Roxy can manage stairs without issue.

When the walks are over, she loves her naps. Roxy thrives on being a homebody. She is a great cuddler, a loving dog who will happily climb into your lap when she’s invited to do so. Her current person tells us she is the most chill, easy-going JRT she has ever known. She has zero prey drive and doesn’t bark at all unless the other dog in the home does.

Roxy sounds like a truly terrific little dog. She is a sweetheart who loves meeting people and making new friends. One will need to show Roxy compassion and give her time to adapt to her move at first, but we’d like to believe she will once again open up to her adopter and show her true, wonderful self!
