“Hi there! My name is Samson. They say I am a chihuahua mix. What do you think? I weigh 20 pounds, and I am estimated to be about 10 years old. I was adopted when I was about 1-2 years old from a shelter so no one is positive about my age.

My human passed away, so now I need to find a new home. My human’s family is taking care of me, but their two large dogs may not appreciate an older guy like me. They are hoping to find a home more like what I was accustomed to. I am grateful they are making sure I am taken care of, not all dogs are so lucky!

I lived with another dog long ago when I was younger. I do well meeting new dogs on walks. I have lived in a community where there are senior people with dogs and I am friendly to all. It may be nice to join a family that has another senior, mellow dog like myself. I don’t mind sharing attention. No one can recall if I ever lived with a cat before but when I see the stray outside, around my house, I do not react. I am a very nice boy. I don’t want to scare that cat! Kids would visit my human and I over the years and I always did well with them. Now that I am older, I would much prefer kiddos who know how to be gentle and kind.

My human took good care of me. I always had veterinary care. I take a daily pill for my liver. My new human should continue with this and be able to keep up on my check-ups. This means more than just getting my shots. I would like to live a long life, and with a human who can afford to care for me, it could happen!

Walks are so much fun! I love my daily walk. I can walk about 1/2 mile, and I behave myself on a leash. I do not have any problems with my mobility, but there is only one stair in and out of my house. No one has seen me do multiple stairs.

When my human was alive, he was home most of the time, so I didn’t need to hold it for long hours. I would rather not have to hold it for a long time but I am able to when needed. I don’t want to have an accident in the house! I do not bark. The humans seem to appreciate that about me. While I was used to having my human around, I am OK to be alone in the house when I need to be.

Words used to describe me best are: “adaptable, friendly, calm, and CUTE”. When it’s time to sit on the couch to watch TV or read, I will join you. At bedtime, I like to sleep under my human’s bed. I am not a demanding boy; I am a go-with-the-flow kinda fellow. I have a lot of love and friendship to offer. I am ready to join my for the rest of my days family!”
