Hi, my name is Shadow. I’m an 11 year old Bichon Frise, which means “curly lap dog” in French. And that’s my favorite thing to do…curl up next to my people on the couch! I stick very close to my ODH mom, and don’t let her out of my sight. That’s why she calls me her shadow.

I was very sad when my person of 11 years left me at the shelter the week before Christmas. I guess she couldn’t afford to take care of me anymore. I had open sores covering most of my left side, some missing teeth (and the ones left are not in good shape), and worrisome blood test results. I coughed and sneezed a lot. Life was miserable.

When I arrived at my Old Dog Haven Final Refuge home, I was scared and confused. I whimpered and whined a lot. I didn’t like to be touched. I didn’t want to play or have my belly rubbed.

But now I know that this is my forever home and my people love me. We love to go for walks. My ODH mom laughs because I walk so fast that my ears bounce. She says my ears are my best feature. A guy can express a lot of emotions just with a twitch of the ear!

Thanks to the support of Old Dog Haven folks, I now have a forever home and I’m on the road to recovery. I have a lot of vet visits still ahead, but I no longer wear a cone around my neck! That’s progress!

Would you sponsor me? I could sure use your help to make my final years the best they can be!

Update:  Dear Shadow’s health failed suddenly and his loving family had to send him on his way.  He had a wonderful time in his Final Refuge home and will be greatly missed.

Looking good in red!

Ready for my walk
