From Sissy Alice’s Final Refuge Mom:   Sissy Alice who is about 14 years old, made her way to her permanent Old Dog Haven foster home with us very overweight, with suspected heart problems and a history of bladder stones.  Sissy needed a new home when her owner became very sick and passed away.  It was a very sad time but Sissy must have known that she would be welcomed by all because she walked into her new home and it was like she had always lived here.  Our two other Old Dog Haven foster dogs, Noodle and Sir Buffington, and our two resident cats loved her from first sniff and the feeling was mutual.

Sissy is so sweet and quiet and very, very smart.  It is clear that other than being overfed and given too many treats she was well loved.  My husband and I are completely in love with her and she is getting plenty of belly rubs which she likes almost as much as food.

Sissy is now on a prescription diet that we hope will help control bladder stones and has a scheduled appointment with a cardiologist and with a veterinarian for a complete exam to determine if there are other issues that we do not know about at this time.  She has lost a little bit of weight and is now able to take productive walks which will help with her health overall.  Sissy was listed as a Yorkie but it’s clear that she is a mix of some other breed, we think Shih Tzu, a friend said she must be a Shorkie (I like that).

Thanks to Old Dog Haven Sissy Alice will receive the medical care that she needs and we, as her forever foster family, will provide the love and care that she so deserves.

Update:

Sissy Alice has been with us for two years and she is just as sweet today and she was the day I picked up her and brought her home to live with us.  She will be 16 years old in September, her hearing and eye sight are not as good as they used to be and she has slowed down a bit, instead of running around outside she strolls and sniffs the grass more and she naps more often than she used to but so far her vet exams return good results, she continues to be a good eater and she has maintained her amazing personality and calm presence.  We are hoping for many more years with this loving little girl, she has stolen our hearts.

Thank you to Old Dog Haven for allowing us to love, live and care for this little charmer and thank you to all of you who are able to sponsor and/or donate to the care of all of the Old Dog Haven foster dogs, without you the wonderful work that Old Dog Haven does would not be possible.
