Smokey and Ginger
Gentle and kind, affectionate and happy
What a good-looking pair of friends Smokey and Ginger are! These bonded friends recently lost their human. The hope is that an adoptive home can be found for the pair so that they can remain together for the rest of their days.
Smokey is the senior of the pair. He is a 60-pound mixed breed who is around 13 years old. Ginger is a 40-pound Heeler/Cattle dog mix who is between 6-7 years old. It has been 6 years since either has seen a vet. Their adopter should be willing and able to take them in for veterinary care and continue to provide veterinary care for them as they age.
The dogs are currently living with another dog, and they do well with that dog and other dogs they come across. Both have been visitors to dog parks. We are told they lived with a cat before their owner passed away. Ginger and Smokey are good with children. We think this pair sounds like they could be a great addition to any home. They could join a family, a couple, or even a single person.
At this time, Ginger and Smokey are spending a lot of time home alone. This does not bother them, though, as they have each other. They are able to manage quite a while between potty breaks. These besties like to hang out inside the house, but they enjoy time outside too. Ginger barks only to let you know she needs to go outside to do her business. It is said that Smokey does “very little” barking.
Smokey is a young senior, and Ginger is not even a senior! They need exercise, and they enjoy it. Daily walks are important. Both do well on leash. Taking stairs is not a problem for either.
Ginger is described as being “very affectionate and happy”. Smokey is reported to be “gentle and kind”. It is very rewarding to give a bonded pair of dogs a home. When they have lost their home and their human, they should not have to lose each other, too.
Smokey and Ginger are located in Sequim, WA. For contact information please email: referrals@olddoghaven.org
This is not an Old Dog Haven dog. Old Dog Haven has not assessed this dog for medical issues and will not be responsible for medical care after adoption. We urge prospective adopters to do their own evaluation.
