Winnie is an almost 9-year-old Chesapeake Bay Retriever mix who weighs 59 pounds.

This pretty girl can be shy, but once she warms up to you, she is playful and affectionate. Winnie can be wary of strangers on her home turf, but we are told that with a ball in her mouth and slow introductions with some ball tosses, she will feel better about it.

Winnie walks well on a leash around other people and dogs. She has chased cats, so she should find an adoptive home without them. Winnie would be happiest as the only dog in her home as she can guard her toys with dogs. Because she needs respect for her space, the shelter is recommending a home with older kids for Winnie.

This lovely girl has a lot of life and energy, so regular exercise (a few ball tosses or a sniffy walk will do) and mental fulfillment are important. Winnie has the softest fur. With time to connect she will show the big heart she has with those she has learned to trust.

Winnie is posted for the Skagit Valley Humane Society located at 18841 Kelleher Rd in Burlington, WA . The shelter is open M-F from 11-5, Sat-Sun from 11-4. Here is where you can apply to adopt Winnie: https://skagithumane.org/dogs/pp56595520/Winnie
