Sunshine made her way to her Old Dog Haven permanent foster home at the end of May 2024. She was thought to be around 13 years old, and possibly deaf.

We immediately scheduled a vet appointment since she arrived with a substantial wound on her leg. Her exam found a number of issues that needed medical attention. In addition to her leg wound, she also had an enlarged heart and enlarged lymph nodes under her chin that were likely caused by issues with her teeth.

The vet determined the wound on her leg would need surgery to help facilitate healing, but once the area was cleaned and stitched up, we noticed another wound had opened up on her backside. At that point, doctors started to suspect an autoimmune disorder. Tests confirmed that Sunshine has panniculitis, an autoimmune disorder that is now managed with daily medication.

In the months that followed, she had dental surgery and was treated for a urinary tract infection. With all the medical treatment Old Dog Haven provided, Sunshine is finally feeling so much better. She is enjoying every moment in our home and loves to burrow under her favorite blankets to take a nap. She loves to bark during her daily walks and always looks forward to mealtime. Little Sunshine has finally found the care and love she needed in her Old Dog Haven home!
