Tonka is an 8 year old Staffordshire-pit mix who weighs about 70 pounds. She loves to go for walks, or be a couch potato. This girl has been moved around a lot in the past few years. Tonka is ready to settle in and finally be HOME!

Tonka started off in a house with kids, and was given to a friend when her people fell on hard times financially and couldn’t afford to keep her. Then two years ago that friend brought her to the shelter because she was moving and couldn’t take Tonka.  She was adopted out to a lady and her teenage daughter. This time her person had developed medical issues that prevent her from being able to care for her. As often is the case with homeless dogs, losing her home time and again has not been her “fault”, just one unfortunate circumstance after another.

Tonka now is older and has some special needs. The main one being that she does not get along with other dogs or cats. She is also allergic to chicken and corn. The shelter is willing to keep her as long as needed, but Tonka deserves a real home.

This pretty girl is great with kids and very tolerant with being touched. She even did great with her butterfly costume this last Halloween! Tonka is a shelter favorite with all of the volunteers.
