Twinkie
Bright, active and brave little girl

Tiny Twinkie was found abandoned in an apartment after her owners moved and left her behind. A kind neighbor took her in but unfortunately, health issues prevented them from keeping her and Twinkie was passed along to yet another home before winding up in a shelter. Old Dog Haven was contacted to find this lovely little girl a forever home where she would never have to move again.
Twinkie arrived at her Old Dog Haven foster home with matted fur, a heart murmur, and much anxiety from all the recent changes in her life. She was quite vocal about how she was feeling and her foster mom reports she still has some separation anxiety and does not like to be left alone. She now shares her new home with another Old Dog Haven final refuge dog, Sophie and after much posturing between the two, they are becoming friends and have recently started to play together. Since Twinkie has some separation anxiety, Sophie has been a comfort to her when her foster mom has to leave the house.
Twinkie’s foster mom says, “She is a bright little dog, very active, brave to the point of foolishness and charges out of the house ready to do battles with giants. Thankfully was haven’t had any of those in the back yard but she checks diligently every time she goes out! She is more than happy to join the Morning Dog Chorus at about 7 pm daily (we have a lot of singing dogs in the neighborhood), but she stops quickly. Someone in her life loved her very much and gave her good manners. She is fully housebroken, comes when called, quiets down when asked, and loves to explore the backyard and play with her toys.”
Twinkie’s foster mom is working hard to gain Twinkie’s trust and let her know that she is safe and will always be a part of the family.
